During the week of May 28 through June 1, 2012, Bill Bateman and Mel Fields of AdSTM participated in an IAEA expert mission with the Turkish Atomic Energy Authority (TAEK - Türkiye Atom Enerjisi Kurumu) at their Ankara, Turkey headquarters. Also participating were Stephen Koenick from the IAEA and Miroslav Jakeš from the Czech Republic State Office for Nuclear Safety (SÚJB - Státní úřad pro jadernou bezpečnost). During the week of May 7-11, Dr. Charles Miller participated in a workshop for the International Framework for Nuclear Energy Cooperation (IFNEC). IFNEC provides a forum for cooperation among participating countries to explore mutually beneficial approaches to ensure the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, with participation from over 60 countries.

From March 4-8, 2012, Morton Fleishman of AdSTM provided mentoring support to the staff of the Nuclear Safety and Security Division (NSSD) of the Jordan Nuclear Regulatory Commission (JNRC) in its review and evaluation of the Preliminary Safety Analysis Report (PSAR) for the Jordan Research and Training Reactor (JRTR). The NSSD staff is performing the evaluation of the PSAR in collaboration with the Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety (KINS). AdSTM also briefed PNRI on the status of small modular reactor (SMR) reviews and issues in the United States. Charlie Miller and Scott Newberry of AdSTM visited BAPETEN, the regulatory authority in Indonesia on January 18 and 19. BAPETEN is preparing to receive their first site application for a nuclear power plant. AdSTM is assisting them with their planning efforts, including human resource development, and conduct of training/workshops on various licensing activities. During this meeting all of the planned activiites for 2012 were discussed. Charlie Miller also made a presentatin on Fukushima lessons learned and resonded to questions from BAPETEN staff and management.
