Advanced Licensing Exercise Project

Purpose

The purpose of the Advanced Licensing Exercise Project (ALEP) is to test and verify the licensing process for a nuclear power plant (NPP) in a country.

Scope

The objectives of the ALEP are to help the regulatory body:

  1. Exercise a safety assessment of an established power reactor design (technology TBD)
  2. Develop internal documentation to support the NPP licensing process
  3. Exercise and strengthen project management aspects of NPP licensing activities
  4. Identify and develop the competencies of the regulatory body for NPP licensing
  5. Identify and develop the set of regulatory guides needed for NPP construction licensing
