Ms. Mugeh Afshar-Tous is the Chief of the International Cooperation and Assistance (ICA) Branch in the Office of International Programs (OIP), U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC).
Ms. Afshar-Tous began her federal career in 1991, and joined the NRC as a senior program analyst at the Advisory Committee for Reactor Safeguards (ACRS) Office in 2004. She progressively took over additional responsibilities in the ACRS as a Team Leader and a Senior Staff Fellow, and subsequently as Deputy Director for the Program Management, Policy Development and Analysis Division. In 2010, she joined OIP as a senior international relations officer at ICA, and in 2014 was promoted to ICA’s Branch Chief.
Ms. Afshar-Tous has a Master of Science in Information Systems Technology from George Washington University and a Master of Public Administration from Troy University. She received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from University of Maryland at College Park. She is also a graduate of the Department of Defense’s Executive Leadership Development Program and the NRC's Team Leader Development Program.
